The Stand

Is the original the one from the 90s with Gary Sinese and Molly Ringwald? Slightly cheesy, looking back now, but loved it at the time

I was just getting into Stephen King books as a kid back then.

I liked the made-for-tv miniseries versions better then the more well known movie versions, cause the miniseries stuck closer to the original books

The more recent Stand miniseries was, indeed, a piece of crap.

Yes.

Like most King mini-series, the ending was stupid.

True

The IT miniseries from around the same time was excellent right up to the end, too

Exactly!

Giant spider, boo.
I didn’t think the giant spider was so bad

More ending the series with that weird bike scene, focusing on the one guy’s wife, who had hardly appeared at all

HBO should do new remake. They could do it right

I have not read a King book since The Stand and It. That was thirty years.

Neither of The Stand TV treatments can hold a candle to the book, especially the later published unabridged version.
true, but that is par for teh course with good books getting a tv script makeover.

The Devil character screwed himself over with his rage, ego and brouhaha.
