Doesie-May did not forget him & he did not forget her. Sure, a full+ year had went by since Doesie-May was a newborn fawn in his yard but she INSTINCTIVELY KNOWS that he is a trusted soul so leaves her lil Baboo under his watchful eye. Speaking of a watchful eye I'd say that cute lil Baboo is getting spied upon about every 30-45 minutes by him! He's even up & about @ 1:00-am to make sure mama feeds her little one like I can relate to that one big time. That protective/parental "watch dog" instinct is so strong in most folks ESPECIALLY with the fawns that it turns us into paranoid worry warts. He just needs to keep some big bowls full of fruits/veggies, peanuts/corn chips & some Quaker rolled oats out on the lawn & soon mama & Baboo will be sleeping in his spare bedroom.

Yes, I am VERY FAMILIAR with the Nara deer(Temple deer) of Japan. The Nara deer are of the species humans commonly refer to as the "European Spotted Fallow Deer(subspecies - Dama dama). The European Spotted Fallow deer are the 2nd most in demand deer in the world for personal/family pets. They are mid sized deer with a reputation for their super affectionate/GENTLE nature, & like other deer soak up love like a sponge;

The European Spotted Fallow deer as can be seen with the Nara deer are known for strong bonding to their human counterpart(s), & also well known for their unbelievable Vaudevillian slapstick 3-stooges type ridiculous antics(below). At 0:37 into the vid the "PETER PAN" LOOK IS SUPER OBVIOUS!

Below; one cannot take the Peter out of the Pan!

Below; an image of the cousins related to the ESF deer. They are known as the Persian Fallow deer(subspecies - Dama mesopotamica). Their spots are not as pronounced as their ESF cousins. They are more of a nomadic desert deer & do not command the big demand that their ESF cousins command. Notice the doe closest to the fawn(doe with red tag in her right ear) the one with her mouth partially open. That look on her face reminds me of Curly of 3 Stooges fame. I can actually imagine her saying, "Nyuk nyuk nyuk"!"

Deer, to know them is to love them!

Wow, you know a lot about deer. As always thanks for those videos. Btw, now I want to go to Japan to see the Nara deer. 🦌🥰 (I've been to Japan a couple times, but never to Nara.)

Out of the 43 species of of deer on our planet earth I have managed to study 15 species in depth so far during my lifetime, with 3 of those species belonging to the "Old World"(subfamily Cervinae) Vampire class of deer. The other 12 species of deer I have studied were of course of the "New World"(subfamily Capreolinae) deer that most folks are familiar with today. At current I started studying the Javan Rusa(Rusa Timorensis) species of deer but with 6 more subspecies connected to the Javan Rusa I no longer have enough time left in this existence to complete the study.

What started out for me so long ago as a one in a million chance encounter with a ridiculously cute little Columbian Black-Tailed doe & her herd in a back then podunk backwoods area called Redland(red clay), turned into a life time love/study that has now finally come to an end & in of all places in a blue water area called Indonesia. From Redland Oregon to Indonesia I have got to be the only person that has ever lived that has done this. No fame no glory nothing to show for it. I think I have been chasing ghosts from the past for a longer time than I care to admit to.

YES, like I can't blame you for wanting to take in the Nara deer for sure! Remember, the only goodies one is allowed to feed those cutie pies are the Nara CRACKER$ which must be purcha$ed from the vendor$. If U R interested in getting to know the does fawns then plan on a spring trip timed for a couple(2) weeks AFTER the does have thrown their fawns. The does HIDE their fawns for the first two weeks or so to teach them survival tactics(instinct), but as integrated the Temple Deer of Nara have become with their human counterparts that may not be the case.

In any case should U be fortunate enough to visit Nara Japan U must exercise caution/safety when intermingling with the Nara Temple Deer ESPECIALLY the bucks! With that said I have included links below just to be on the cautionary side of things.

Cookie monsters;

WHY the the Nara Temple Deer bow;

If U get to take in NARA make SURE to get a lot of digital recordings for me PLEASE!

I can't go there any time soon, but it is on my list of places I want to see :) so yea, I'll definitely get digital recordings when I do get there!

Below; another member of family Cervidae but this member is on the large side!

Ohmygoodness!!! hahhaha.... where is that, I'm wondering? Where a Moose just comes up to someone's front door. :laugh: What most people don't realize, btw, is that a lot of animals are just big grass puppies. Like this:
