- Is a myth!

Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Howard Schultz and others didn't spend any time stressing over who was in the Whitehouse and who controlled Congress. They kept their heads down, worked steady, lived below their means and built their fortunes. You don't need to be Bill Gates to do this. Your life and fortunes won't change radially depending on which corrupt S.O.B. occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Stay informed and vote of course, but don't waste time stressing about the R's and D's and focus on you.

Lessons on how to simplify your life, improve your financial situation, and stop wasting time are all available on the internet - Information we used to have to spend hours digging out of libraries in the past. You may not become a billionaire, but you'll be far happier seeing your nest egg grow, your life less stressful, and future brighter if you stop wasting your time and emotional energy getting steamed whenever some jackass politician does something stupid (which happens with numbing regularity)

God Bless you all. :)

What exactly does it mean for Bill Gates to live "below" his means?

I'll tell you what it means. It's means - Gates and Allen shared a small apartment in New Mexico when they started Microsoft. They took turns sleeping on an old couch, or the floor. Bills 1st desk was an interior door he pulled from a construction site a few blocks away, propped up by building blocks. Yes, Gates came from a wealthy family, but it wasn't all sunshine and roses.

Thanks for being honest and acknowledging Gates came from a wealthy family.
I'm not discounting the sacrifices he or the others made, but it's a different suffering when you have the wealth of your family as a safety net to fall back on.
Far different for someone like Gates to make a choice to eat PB&J as a sacrifice, then an average person starting a business eating a PB&J not as a sacrifice but because it's all they literally can afford.

It's been my observation of my acquaintances just because you have a wealthy family doesn't mean you get any of that wealth.
I have had them bum money for gas to get to a job interview in their junker of a car.

Yeah, it sure helped Trump that his daddy game him hundreds of millions of dollars of startup money.

I don't think he ever used a door as a desk while he was denying negroes to rent his apartments in Queens.
