The courts just told them, AGAIN, sit down and behave.
Turns out freezing bank accounts and trampling rights was illegal. Twice.
And let’s not forget who cheered it on. Our current Prime Minister @MarkJCarney
literally wrote an editorial in the Globe and Mail urging the government to invoke the Emergencies Act and freeze bank accounts. Read that again and let it sink in. The man who advised punishing citizens without charges is now running the country. That fact alone should chill every Canadian to the bone.
Funny how a truck horn was treated like a national crisis, but actual lawbreaking by the government is just another Tuesday in Ottawa. And now, right on cue, we learn Treasury is rushing out a shiny new policy to automatically delete federal emails and chats at warp speed. Fifteen days for messages. Thirty days for emails. Poof, gone. Nothing to see here, citizens.
If this is just Treasury today, what’s next? How long before the same digital shredder gets rolled out across the entire federal government? What other inconvenient conversations are about to vanish into the bureaucratic Bermuda Triangle? Accountability by auto-delete. How comforting.
Tamara Lich stood her ground. Regular Canadians stood their ground. And the Liberals got legally swatted like a mosquito at a July bonfire.
