The Tragedy of Nixon is a president who failed to understand that the ends never justify the means and that the president is indeed subject to the rule of law. He may have violated his Oath of Office and the Constitution in good faith – believing he was saving America from communism by keeping a democrat out of the WH, but that wasn’t for him alone to decide.

One thing about Nixon that dates back to his earliest years in California politics: he was a pathological liar. Unlike the lies of other politicians, most of his lies were not for personal gain, they could easily be debunked with a little research, and they dealt with things he had no need to lie about to begin with.

In a way, he deserves credit for being able to get so far despite that problem.

I agree with the above, I would add that he was brilliant in many ways, but he didn't have a certain balance and was remarkably thin skinned, which imho, made him do illogical and stupid things.
