this subject has already been done chubs....check the threads out once in a while...

The governator is hyping and mangling numbers again.. Cali is not near generating 40% from renewables. And the the goals and claims that the govt makes are based on INSTALLED CAPACITY -- not actual production.

Even by their ludicrous standards -- It's more like 20% or 25% and hydro/biomass is a big chunk of that.

Take the wind/solar numbers and divide by 3 -- because that's how much they ACTUALLY produce..

Wind is rated at 4-6 hours per day the same as PV arrays. 18-23% is the average output according to the DOE. a 100 Mw array will only produce about 20% of its rated capacity on any given day. 20Mw for just 4-6 hours a day... its not worth the time or money..

Hmmmmmmmmmm......................... Renewables, 20%, large hydro, 5.5%, unspecified, 15%. I guess whether the Governator is correct depends on the source of generation for the unspecified 15%. However, California is funding more and more wind farms here in Oregon, so I think you will see increasing percentages of power from renewables from here on in California, indeed, for the whole of the Pacific Northwest.
