The fascist of Italy had an interesting strategy to maintain control over Italy. That was to have back up fascist parties ready to take over if the fasciti were to ever be thrown out of power. It kind of makes me think about our two party system. If you hate big government then vote out the democratic party and vote in republican. What I've seen of the republican party in the last few years was almost nearly identical behavior. It is like there is some backup plan that is always in place. When one party loses an identical party is ready to take over.
