People throw around the term 'science' today in the same way the church wielded religion in the Spanish Inquisition (which everyone expected).
By doing so, they can brand unbeliever as heretics and apostates. They can seize land and property and strengthen the authority of the state.
Believing in anything that you don't fully understand, including science, is equivalent to superstition.
ust as faith and religion have different beliefs, science can have different and competitive theories.
Scientists can argue facts and data, but they don't get to declare the skeptics as heretics and condemn them to the metaphorical stake.
