The Russian consumer is obviously suffering but not the Russian government apparently. In my opinion watching the forex exchange is not going to give you an accurate picture of what Russia has available to it for assets. We still don't know how much of an impact brics has behind the scenes because nobody's actually monitoring that exchange. I believe Russia is using it to trade with India away from the eyes of the international financial community and probably with China too in overland trading that can't really be monitored. Other than that yes it what seem that Russia should have collapsed by now the fact that it has not says would indicate that something is going on that we can't see.
