Something has bothered me with most of the discussions concerning Trump sending someone off to a prison while disregarding their civil rights. (Yes he did this and I will not argue anything otherwise).

The arguments go, once you allow due process to be stripped from one, it becomes easier to then do it to others. What bothers me is that ship has longed sailed.

It became public knowledge that Obama had targeted Al-Awlaki to be killed when found. He had people arguing that he had never received any Due Process and therefor could not have a sentence against him. No, he wasn't here but he most certainly could have been tried in absentia just like we did with Ira Einhorn.

Even a military trial would have while keeping any classified information, classified it would have put the governments proof on record.

We got nothing but a citizen targeted for death by a president based upon nothing more than the word of the president that he was a bad guy. Just like people are arguing today. The argument is the same, bad guy or not as a citizen he had due process rights.

Where were the complaints and condemnation of Obama? There were a small few. The ACLU and a small number of civil liberty groups. The Democrats? Unlike today they backed Obama. Republicans? Nothing because they supported it.

Trump is a horrible person and president but the ground work was laid by Obama.

We can then mention how Obama then targeted his teen age son much like what we saw in the Godfather II.

Convicting people in absentia isn’t really due process either. Let’s be honest.

It would at least put the governments proof or lack of proof on record and would have allowed a judge to decide. Is it the best option? No, but Obama wouldn't even do that.

Do you really need proof on record? He made his own very public record.

By any chance , was that "someone" an illegal alien?

Are you equally upset when WE THE PEOPLE - native AMericans Civil rights are transgressed upon?

When anyone's is.
The Process Theory of the meaning of the Fifth Amendment Due Process of Law Clause maintains that the Clause requires that deprivations of life, liberty, or property must be preceded by process of law in this narrow and technical legal sense.

(1) Did I then have a DUE PROCESS OF LAW RIGHT right to prevent the Biden Junta from opening the borders?

(2) Did I have a DUE PROCESS OF LAW RIGHT right to Prevent the same from flying in illegals ?

(3) To Prevent the same from providing illegals stipends including free cell phones?

(4) To Prevent the Biden Junta from using illegals to substitute Republicans and Consevatives as voters ?

DID I ?

9-0 Supreme Court. Then 7-2 Supreme Court.

I mostly ignored you because it was Trump that enacted the cell phones.

CLAIM: The U.S. government gives immigrants who cross the country’s border illegally smartphones with unlimited texting and internet access.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. Immigration and Customs Enforcement does give some immigrants phones. However, they can only access an app called SmartLink, which is used to monitor immigrants after they cross the border, according to the agency, the company that makes the phones and an immigration expert. The devices are not connected to a cellular network and cannot be used to browse the internet, make unauthorized phone calls, or access apps other than SmartLink.

THE FACTS: Social media users have in recent days renewed erroneous claims about these phones, which have been used by ICE since 2018.

This is yet another Orange Man Bad thread.

You are merely parroting whatever Hakeem or AOC say.

BTW

"On April 6, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed illegal immigrants are receiving "electronic devices," including cell phones, so that the administration can "track" and "check in" with them."

We are through here

Round and round. I did not argue they didn't get them. I argued it was a Trump program. (and I provided a link)

The federal government has the option to withdraw the visas of aliens if they act in a way that undermines the agenda of the government. Would you have it any other way? Criminals who are in the Country illegally can be deported without a trial. Where the hell were democrats when FDR was rounding up Japanese American citizens and placing them in concentration camps?

It's all part of TDS. Left wingers who were disappointed about the last election are in a position where they defend criminal gang banger wife beaters who are in the U.S. illegally because they hate Trump. It ain't going to work but it's all they got.

Recall, they got reperations.

It's not at all surprising that Americans who have accepted Trump's fascist tactics, would invent arguments to legitimize them.
Just to let them know that it doesn't pass muster or go unnoticed.
