He was fired from his job as a math professor when he applied for exit visas for his family and spent months in limbo waiting for permission to leave for America with his wife and 6 year old son, Sergey. Years later that son, then a student at Stanford, co-founded one of America's most successful and useful Internet firms ... Google.
