Also, lots of animals are used for purposes of scientific testing all the time. And much of it requires “sacrificing” the animals.

But if you happen to be fond of dogs as loyal pets, that one strikes an emotional chord.

Much of that kind of experimentation was done far earlier than 1980. Ivan Pavlov discovered the same thing in the early 1900's, which coined the phrase "Pavlov's dogs."

Animals can't be "murdered" as murder is, by definition, the unlawful and pre-meditated killing of one human by another.

But, animals are killed, in huge numbers, every day. For science, for food, for convenience, to prevent the spread of disease, and even to prevent them suffering.

That the Soviet experiments are any different from those other killings is highly subjective.
