Today's bombings in London are easily done, and get used to the idea-because they're coming to a public place near you.
Though little evidence seems to be coming out of ongoing investigations zegarding the tragedies in London two weeks ago, it doesn't matter even if they catch them all. These acts are probably being carried out by splinter factions who pursue the same ideology as the al-Zarqaui bunch(s).
If al-Zarqaui even exists, he is only a player-not the end game. The strategy is to cause fear and pandemonium. Tactically, individual groups can easily pull off incidents like we saw in the UK. As the media scrambled to update viewers and listeners, hopefully enduring commercials between those updates, speculation was the order of the day.
These bombings are an intentional distraction. The extremist-Muslim strategy is one measured in decades and generations, timelines US media is incapable of perceiving-leave alone reporting.
The ultimate goal of the "extremists" is to bring "Western" civilization down. One has only to listen to their rhetoric. Having done so, no challenge of "paranoia" will intimidate.
In the interim, terrorizing the "enemies" of Islam will suffice.
The railway attacks of late, however effectively planned and executed, can be conducted primitively and quickly. After all, they're not trying to kill you all-right now. Horrifying you will suffice.
Without getting into complex chemical formulas, explosives can be readily constructed using over-the-counter gunpowder, and we all know that is easy stuff to get a hold of. Whether extracted from loaded cartridges or purchased in bulk, a compressed powder charge, iced with nails or scrap, will slice you up a treat.
The demonstrations in the UK are likely the work of splinter extremists who are shallow enough to buy into the short game and 72 virgin bit.
The only "complicated" part in the disasters was the conspiracy to do multiple locations, nearly simultaneously. Packing the charge and picking a target is measured in minutes or hours-not days and months.
"Sleeper" is a term that is thrown about much these days. The term is more sinister than it implies even in its raw form. A "sleeper" might be best defined as one-or a group-with the potential to carry out such a despicable deed. Only the thought police can intervene and prevent a sleeper from manifesting itself.
And that is our fatal flaw. It is by virtue of being Americans that we will, likely, stand together and prevent the "thought police."
That's where they've got us. They don't care.
Raids like we're seeing in Britain can be more easily onducted here. Bomb-making products are more readily available, we're a bigger target and there is more area to hide within. But there's no need to hide when you're a sleeper-and there has yet to be a conspiracy. "Potential" should be part of any troubleshooting, preemptive formula.
When it's too difficult to hijack a plane and crash it into a big, tall recognizable building, chaining the doors and burning our children in school will do. And it's coming to a school near you.
