Say one of these purses cost $100 in labor and materials but retails for $4500. The Tariff is applied to the $100 and not the retail price. Meaning somewhere in that $4,500 retail price they will either add $25 and raise the price to $4,525 or just eat the tax out of the $4,400 profit margin.

Which is why some are calling for 400% Tariffs. It won't affect luxury brands....

Say Nike pays $10 per shoe but sells a pair for $100. A 400% tariff will raise the cost to $80/pair.
Now it's too expensive for them to be made in China and will move its production to anywhere else and still raise prices. The result will be a cost of $40/pair and retail for $150.
