South Korean President Lee and Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi surprised journalists with an impromptu jam session on the drums during their recent summit.

Takaichi seems to be putting on a charm offensive between the neighbors. She made a point of complimenting the South Korean First Lady's appearance during the visit. When the South Korean delegation arrived in Nara, Takaichi bowed deeply to the president; something very significant to South Koreans.

Diplomacy in action.

What do you call the person who hangs out with musicians?

The drummer.

It’s a joke.

And yes, drumming is a hard job. Not to mention the amount of equipment they have schlep around.
That's why I always wanted to play the cow bell.

Takaichi was said to be a heavy metal drummer in the 1980s but there was no confirmation until this drum session in Nara. To demonstrate her drumming skills, she used the vintage drum set from that era.

"Following the meeting, I performed a drumming session with President Lee Jae Myung. When we met at APEC last year, he said that it was his dream to play the drums, so I prepared a surprise. We performed to "Golden," which won Best Original Song at the recent Golden Globe Awards, and BTS's "Dynamite." President Lee Jae Myung told me how happy he was to be able to fulfill his long-held dream of playing the drums."
