St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus & of the Holy Face

Dear Mr. Mortimer,
On today’s Day of German Unity, we gratefully remember the reunification of our Fatherland in the year 1990.
This historic event reminds us that unity is not something to be taken for granted, but a gift and at the same time a task. For freedom is more threatened in our days than ever before. The overcoming of walls, divisions, and mistrust was only possible because people had the courage to fight for freedom.
Today’s struggle is a spiritual struggle, for it is about the fight of the world against Christ. We, as Catholics, are obliged to take up this fight and to stand up for Christ, the Catholic Church, and the Fatherland.
As Catholic Christians, we also see in this national day of remembrance a spiritual sign: The unity of our country reminds us that God Himself establishes the deepest and truest unity – the unity between the Father and the Son and in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself prays in the High Priestly Prayer:
“...that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me” (John 17:21).
This unity, prayed for by Christ and worked by God, finds its absolute expression in the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church. Through faith, the sacraments, and communion with the successor of Peter, the unity of the Body of Christ is maintained throughout the whole world.
This unity is not only an internal church matter but has a deep cultural and social radiance: Where people are united in faith, peoples, nations, and cultures can also grow together in peace. If we, as Catholics, live in faithfulness to the Church, we contribute to ensuring that our people too can flourish in true freedom and unity, through Christ our Lord.
Therefore, we call on our members to preserve and deepen the unity in the Church, given by God, to stand in prayer for our country, and to bear witness to the love of Christ. May the spiritual unity of the Church always be a source of renewal for Germany and Europe.
“One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:5–6).
Christkönigtum e.V. stands up for the values of the Christian West. Shoulder to shoulder and back to back, we defend the truth, with your help.
Under your protection and mantle
we flee, O holy Mother of God; do not despise our prayers in our needs,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin,
our Lady, our Mediatrix, our Intercessor.
Reconcile us with your Son, commend us to your Son, present us before your Son. Amen.
