This latest assessment has an eery resemblance to the WMD fiasco in Iraq. Why would Assad deliberately "cross the red line" by the limited use of chemical weapons? If true, it would mean that he is either insane or deliberately drawing the US into the conflict for political purposes. Another possibility is trying to embarrass President Obama by calling his bluff, especially after he tossed former Egyptian President Mubarak under the bus.
