I'm not terribly surprised by this result.
The fact is, there is a reason why men are preferred employees and the only way to balance that out is for employers to deliberately discriminate against men and hire women who are less qualified.
And when you remove the gender identify from the application, employers are unable to do that.
I'm not saying women are less capable.
However, women are more likely to have gaps in employment from time taken to full-time motherhood. Gaps like these would never be tolerated on a man's resume, so women get the benefit of the doubt in this regard.
When an employer does not know an applicant is a woman, a gap like this will be fatal to her chances.
