No insult meant for Boris Yeltsin, but, who would know more than a President of Russia about Leftist doctrine.

And, today being the birthday of that departed soul, his words on the issue should be considered dispositive.

Boris Yeltsin
PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA
BORN

Soviet Union
(Born on this day)
DIED

In September of 1991, the President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, was asked about the history and future of Communism:
“One of their more dramatic responses came to a question by Los Angeles actor Ben Stein, who asked whether the two leaders believed any country should live under communism.

Yeltsin answered first: "This experiment which was conducted on our soil was a tragedy for our people and it was too bad that it happened on our territory. It would have been better if the experiment had happened in some small country, to make it clear that it was a Utopian idea, although a beautiful idea."

Gorbachev said history has shown that "that model has failed which was brought about in our country. And I believe that this is a lesson not only for our people but for all peoples.” GORBACHEV, YELTSIN SAY COMMUNISM FAILED USSR

Yet, on this very day, the Democrat Party is on the way to nominating a Marxist as their Presidential candidate.

They got Communism wrong. Sanders and Warren would do it correctly...

I don't know if that is tongue-in-cheek, or you're serious.

That was sarcasm. He's mocking what the left says about communism.

Radical Democrats:

"They got Communism wrong. Sanders and Warren would do it correctly..."

"The only reason communism hasn't worked is because we've never tried it here..."

"It's not socialism, it's Democratic socialism..."

"I won't stick it in, I promise..."

"I love you..."

"I'll pay you back later..."

"You can trust me..."

"I'm not married..."

"It's ok. I can't get you pregnant..."

"My phone died..."

"I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today..."

Republicans who can do so should hop over to the DNC primaries and cast a vote for Bernie. Nothing would do more to insure a Trump second term than a Bernie nomination. I fully supported him last time. This time he is too old and too DNC to be elected.

Honestly, any of those Democratic candidates would mean a sure win for Trump. I'm just not seeing what they have to offer me.

It's Democratic Communism dontcha know.

Seems redundant, as the Democrat Party stands for the same things the Communist Party did.

You have no idea. Lenin decided that Communism would only work if it was one government world wide and that government was Communist like Karl Marx wrote about. Lenin understood that first the world had to be conquered and converted and then, and only then, could communism work. So he devised a way to use the Military to take over smaller, weaker countries and install a Military Regime. Stalin was just better at it and much more ruthless. We will never know what would happened since it was intercepted by WWII. After Stalin died, the USSR started to change. It developed in to an Oligarchy which had more to do with corrupt unchecked Capitalism. Communism was never achieved. Today, it's still an Oligarchy and just as corrupt. Hate to break it to you, their unchecked Capitalism is more honest than ours. They admit it exists and accept it as life. In the US we deny it exists but the country is run by much of the same types of people.

Your use of Communism is an outdated term once used freely in the late 40s and throughout the 50s when someone or some group wanted to denigerate another group of person. For instance, the main reason the Birchers originally formed was to try and bring Eisenhower down as a Communist. You need to get with the program. Today, the name Socialist is used instead.

So the age of the candidate is the determining factor?

Another deep thinker checks in.

Wow, another "Hey,look over there" response from you. Under Yeltsin, it wasn't communism at all. It was an Oligarchy like it is today. We share more with Russia than any of us care to admit.

Actually, you are right. I am 20 minutes late from leaving. Golden Corral has a full breakfast with a mean Omelet for 6.95 for us old hands. You have to pay fill price but full price is still only 8.95 until 11. Thanks for reminding me. Have a nice day.

A common view was when Russia was the Soviet Union and we as the United States were moving towards each other. They became a bit more capitalistic in ways and we became more socialistic in ways. Today we have lost a lot of rights. And as the old Soviet Union does not exist anymore we seem to be heading towards what they were before communism fell.
