State of Washington county missing Canadians due to trump policies

I agree, but for the fact that Seattle and Portland stupidity are contagious.

My late husband and I moved from Seattle to Port Angeles, when Seattle just got unbearable, but within 2 years, PA was just becoming a mini Seattle. An acquaintance of mine worked in PA's drug treatment center, and confirmed to me that they would get junkies shipped in from Seattle and Portland for treatment, with no contingency for what would happen with them when they graduated out of treatment, so PA just became Seattle's and Portland's holding area for junkies who were free on the streets when their program was over.

When my husband passed, I moved back to South Dakota and have never been happier or safer.

Agreed, it is getting crazier throughout the state and will get worse under Ferguson. I swear WA is worse than Cali.

Maybe if/when WA does do away with the property tax cap and charge per mile driven and what ever other taxes they are trying to implement to pay for their damn 10 to 12 BILLION dollar deficit (just a few years ago it was around that much excess) because of crazy spending..........my kids might be willing to move and I with them. I can only hope

Move wherever you want. trump's tariff inflation will follow you. But you are a MAGAT, so you will love paying more for your Dear Leader.

My best wishes to you and your family.

My husband and I both loved Seattle. I spent my whole adult life there and had a fun career and was deeply enmeshed in Seattle culture. Eventually, the derelict RV's started parking in our neighborhood, Fremont, and the inhabitants started selling drugs out of them, very close to the schools and playgrounds, and the city refused to do anything about it.

By God's grace, my husband started losing his mind to dementia, so he never had to witness the destruction that happened in 2020. I wept when I saw my old neighborhood of Capitol Hill besieged by terrorists.

Have you ever seen the KOMO4 Special called "Seattle Is Dying"? It's available on YouTube. It has so much to say about the destruction of the city and the very good possible solutions that were rejected by the city government.

If they can revoke a VISA for any reason they want, then it is indeed authoritarian.

Next thing you know the have you on a plane to a gulag in El Salvador.

Why risk it?
You might have had something if the administration was doing that with their citizens. But they're not,
and your BS is just that....BS.

What’s to stop them from doing it with their citizens?

The fact remains that foreigners in this country have been arrested and sent to a gulag with no due process.

Look what the clowns in the last administration was doing to a political opponent of Biden's.
Very authoritarian, the difference is that the democrats did it, and you are giving a 'what if'
scenario for Trump.

Trump was taken to court and received due process.

But here we have Trump making people disappear and sending them to rot in a third world gulag due process. It’s a huge difference.

And now he is threatening to send YS citizens to foreign prisons. He is the one that should be in prison.

Then you know nothing about me. I'm not as 'MAGAT' as most, though I am conservative. I did not vote for Trump this time around, but I sure as hell wasn't voting for DaHoe.

Yes, I've seen it and I think the whole state is dying.

I've never had much interest in Seattle, or any other big city for that matter. But the drugs and crime and homelessness is now far more reaching than the cities.

Actually the cities are probably in better shape just because in the cities it's more visible and gets more attention, so they go thru and 'clear out' the camps & the people so it looks pretty for their reputations. That doesn't stop the activities, but it just pushes it further out.......you know, 'out of sight, out of mind'

Making the people move from place to place doesn't cure the problem, it just makes it a bigger problem

Canada is desperate, the left wing govt has ruined their economy and now they are looking to blame America for their ruin

The sad thing is, is that Canada was almost assuredly about to elect a conservative in the upcoming election, but then Trump went and shot his mouth off, and now it isn't likely to happen.

trump is alienating allies and allying the US with adversaries like Russia. Canadians are our brothers who have fought side by side with us for hundreds of years. In a few months, trump has destroyed that relationship.
As long as the right people get alienated.....I could give a sh*t.

Trump, the great king of America now? Maybe he just wants everyone's loyalty. Perhaps Canadians simply don't appreciate that. lol. :)

👉 Yes, the Trump administration had several notable problems and tensions with Canada's leaders, especially with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, primarily during Trump's return to the White House in 2025.

Key Issues and Timeline:

Tariffs and Trade War (Early 2025): Trump imposed steep tariffs on Canadian imports, including a 25% tariff on many goods and a 10% tariff on Canadian energy, which Canada heavily exports to the U.S. This led to a retaliatory tariff response from Canada on American goods, escalating a trade conflict. Trudeau condemned these tariffs as baseless and harmful, accusing Trump of trying to collapse the Canadian economy to facilitate annexation347.

Annexation and "51st State" Rhetoric: Trump repeatedly referred to Canada as the "51st state" and Trudeau as a "governor," which was initially dismissed as banter but later taken seriously by Canadian officials. Trudeau stated that Trump desires a complete collapse of Canada's economy to enable annexation, which Canada firmly rejects256.

Border and Treaty Disputes: Trump challenged the validity of the 1908 border treaty between the U.S. and Canada and expressed interest in renegotiating the border and water-sharing agreements, including those governing the Great Lakes. This created significant unease in Canada, as these treaties have long been foundational to peaceful relations25.

Natural Resources and Environmental Oversight: Trump showed interest in Canadian natural resources, including water from British Columbia and rare earth minerals. The U.S. also indicated it might withdraw from environmental treaties with Canada, further straining relations2.

Intelligence and Military Cooperation: There were discussions within the Trump administration about removing Canada from the Five Eyes intelligence alliance and reviewing military collaboration, including the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), which unsettled Canadian officials5.

Symbolic and Practical Border Changes: The U.S. changed rules at the Haskell Free Library and Opera House, a building straddling the border, requiring Canadians to pass through immigration control, citing drug trafficking concerns. This was seen as a symbolic deterioration of the traditionally open border2.

Political and Public Reaction in Canada: Trudeau and other Canadian leaders strongly opposed Trump's actions and rhetoric, emphasizing the historic alliance and partnership between the two countries. The tensions contributed to political debates within Canada, with opposition leaders criticizing the government's dependency on the U.S. and Trump's disruptive policies789.

In sum, the Trump administration's approach to Canada from late 2024 into 2025 involved aggressive trade measures, provocative rhetoric about annexation, challenges to longstanding treaties, and attempts to leverage natural resources and intelligence cooperation, all of which led to significant diplomatic friction with Canadian leaders, particularly Prime Minister Justin Trudeau256.
