Some Things Never Change
I wish I were a liberalI think you know the kind
Theyāre always sure and certain
And they never change their mind
Thereād be no introspection
No reflection, no remorse
Iād sail in one direction
And I never would change course
They have a way of blocking out
The evidence before them
Faced with inconvenient truths
Ironically, Ignore them
Dealing with bad outcomes
Well, theyāve found a way to bluff
The program isnāt failing
We just havenāt spent enough
I ād never be concerned about
Transgressions or abuses
With legions of apologists
Preparing my excuses
A lurid accusation?
The media wonāt credit it
A fumbling foolish answer?
The media will edit it
Iād have calm and mellow air
Of certitude about me
The world might be in chaos
But it would be worse without me
Iād say, āItās time to turn the page.ā
When asked what that would bring
Iād smile and say contently
I wouldnāt change a thing
