Some Folks Take Their Hobbie$ In A BIG Way!

It appears a 1/4 scale kit of that model can be had for $250, but the engines, control system and fuel is what is really going to set you back, probably another grand there.

I never cared for the quarter scale kits myself, but they are easier to see when aloft.

IMO, that hobby was much better when gasoline powered models dominated the market thirty years ago.

This was something my dad and I did when I was growing up.

The smell, the noise, the flying experience, it was all better than the electric models IMO.

I noticed a decade or so ago, with extended battery power, the hobby seemed to be going toward electric.

The bigger models, as in the OP, obviously still require gas.

A six-pack glass cockpit will run you $30,000 ... and up to $100,000 if it includes a PFD/MFD system ... that's just one instrument in one small airplane ... you still need five, count them FIVE radios ...

Plus a few more ... then there's insurance ...

General Aviation as a hobby is more expensive than a major cocaine addiction ...

When my kid was growing up, I got him some Heroscape war game sets. It was reasonably priced when Hasbro mass produced it.

Now, when he gets stuff off of Ebay or from some of the smaller companies putting out stuff for it, I think that crap is way over priced.

I did Star Wars Armada for a few years, until they gave up issuing new models.
