I'm in sales. I make $70ish, give or take $5K. I sell to Accountants and CPA's. My industry is pretty safe from GOPanomics. In other words, Lawyers and accountants still need the stuff I'm selling. That doesn't mean the company hired more salespeople for smaller salaries and now I'm competing with more people within my company. My company isn't offering raises to keep up with inflation. I see them raising quotas when the economy sucks.
Actually, my boss was wrong. He said we aren't affected. EVERYONE is affected. Lots of companies have told me they are cutting back on what they buy from us. They don't buy the little extras they used to buy.
So when you add up that the company has raised our goals and companies are cutting back, that means no bonus' this year. I've made my goals 9 out of 10 months, but last year I MAXED OUT my goals.
Blabla. I'm not going to bore you, but I see EVERYONE is being affected by this economy.
If you are a manager, I can just explain to you how they might get rid of you. They might replace you with a foreigner. They might merge and drop you.
If you are a $250K a year guy, I can tell you too that your job may not be around forever. If companies want to max profits, and you aren't indespensable, your job might be in jeopordy too.
Do you do manual labor? I have a buddy who lays marble or something like that. He says most of the guys on his crew are illegals. Do you do manual labor?
Archetect? Their jobs are being outsourced too.
Hey, better you stay home than vote for McCain.
