Let's say your community, state, or country has a problem that negatively affects the majority of the people. The problem can be easily solved with effective legislation, however if solved some or even many people would become unemployed. Knowing that such legislation would cost them votes in the next election is enough to oppose such legislation. Being reelected is more important to politicians than solving these problems. That's how politics really works and why our culture is infected with entrenched problems.

I'm sorry. How does this qualify as "satire"?
Other than the fact we've been subject to minority rule for...decades now? :)

China has devised a capitalist system that does work, because it has eliminated the problem issue to which you refer.

Is it worth it to the people of China if it allows China to surge ahead unencumbered by the need for politicians to be re-elected.

Trump obviously has a crude imitation of China's option in mind, even if can only admit to wanting to try it for a day.

I think he meant it would only take him one day to issue all of the executive orders needed to set things right from the Biden-Harris administration.

Maybe, but your issue is with Politicians who only act in their own interest of being re-elected. That's mostly true, but China has found a way around the problem.

Democracies become dictatorships after a period of political assassinations.

China has found a way in capitalism that can demand socially responsibility on doing what is right for their country.

That's a healthy blend of socialism by the very definition. The ACA is begrudgingly being accepted all across your country.

The minority still accepts the $100,000 bill for an appendectomy.

Both governments are to be feared but for different reasons.
China's government operates as a criminal organization.
America's government allows criminal organizations to operate.

We get the gov't we deserve, not the one we dream of.

In a government and political system based on Rule by the People that system gets the government they deserve. Mainly by the peoples desire or lack of to make government work the way it should. Apathy is the greatest threat to freedom.

Also, active opposition, as in the love of recreational drugs. Effective drug policy would be career ending for politicians.

That's probably what every American says.
I don’t think so. The top 10% are every happen with the way things are, and don’t seem to care about the problems of the bottom 90%.

Correct. Our political/electoral system is broken, and we need to fix it. Or we can just keep bending over for it. That's up to us.

Unfortunately, the tribes are no longer allowed to work with each other to fix anything. Instead they just want to win and cram their agendas down our throats.

We could change this if we cared enough. If.

I don't think you know much about human nature. The rich have plenty to complain and be unhappy about. Finding a good Lamborghini mechanic is a drag.

None of us deserve this shit, but few of us do anything about it.
The nation deserves better, but we still have control of our day to day lives pretty much. We just need to get over the sense of entitlement.
