So I replied in the thread already but you can see from below what Thunk quoted me and the actual quote I made in the link:

This needs to be corrected as it could allow someone to misconstrue and disseminate false information or association. Since I know how policing works in Canada and how America is following our "lead", it is immoral to allow posters to falsely alter ones quote in a reply.

In this instance he refers to a flag which I have not postulated about.

Can this be corrected?

His reply, with my "quote":

.

You fix that by reporting the person doing the "editing".

It is in violation of TOS to edit someone else's post.

Don't whine at the whole board. Report it.

.

Yes...report me for quoting what YOU POSTED (in the 4th paragraph of the OP).
That isn't my quote, it's a quote from the story.

Come on, you know the difference. I provide a few sentences from the story, I never made the statement lol. You can reply and provide that quote, but it won't be under my name. My original quote would be included, which I provided above.

Then italicize the quotes from the article when you create an OP...that's a dead give-away that it's from the article.

But the sites quote function will still say it's from you.

Should I write a paragraph explaining this is from the article you posted before quoting anybody?

I don't get it. When I type "post reply", it only shows your full posting and quote, not a small subsection of a quote unless I purpose edit it to reflect that, which I never would do.

Shortening another person's quote is not in violation of the rules here.

It wasn't my quote, it was a quote from the article that's the difference.

Regardless, FBI confirmed the ISIS flag according to NBC News, I just don't like to have anything from an article attributed to me personally even if it is accurate. I've never done that to any poster out of respect for the integrity of the conveyed message that they themselves typed.

It may have been an accident of an oversight but I like to be transparent. I am nothing if I don't maintain fidelity to facts and truth. It's all I have in this world.

And everybody already knows that!

Nobody is thinking you were right there to personally witness the ISIS flag on the trailer hitch.

I can't believe you are making such a fuss of this.

Is it that time of the month?

It's not that simple, but it's water under the bridge.

The site should still not allow such functionality, it should be strict with a forced full quote of the prior post.

I don't get it. When I type "post reply"

I highlight a few words that I want to make a point about and a "Reply" button pops up...I click it & only the highlighted words are quoted in my reply. Just like I did for this post.

None the less...I did no editing or made any changes.

Is this the first time you've seen this? It's happened to me forever...I never considered it to be much of a deal, because people usually know what is from me or from the article.

What was quoted is what was in your post.

I've only reported someone altering my quote once. I don't care what happened, but felt the need to do so.

then in your reply to their quote you can and should've just mentioned that fact.

I told the person they had misquoted me and they fixed it. No need to report them. It was another persons words under my name so I knew it was a malfunction in the quote function.

Even gave that person a "thanks" when they fixed it.

Yeah, it's against the rules, just report it.

I had one the other day, the poster listed two of my quotes, but the second one I didn't write, they just fabricated it. So I just reported it and never replied.

We disagree on that...but that's OK.

When you quote a partial post you are making a single point...and that point gets lost in the entire article.
Everybody does this. You are responding to a portion of a long winded quote -- a part of that you may disagree
