Zone1 Shun your neighbors

I wandered into this thread thinking it was a discussion. I don't know everybody and your past discussions. I see that is coloring things in ways I am not privy to.

Anyway, for what it's worth these were some musings l typed before I saw ding's remarks.

Jesus told us to love our neighbor and do good to those who hate us. Does that mean you must answer the door when your neighbor comes over to borrow something? Well, Jesus doesn't say celebrate your neighbor's sinful ways but he does say to loan when asked.

Attention to context is often necessary when reading the Bible. Discernment can be difficult. It's often helpful to talk about it with others. It seems like some people here use the dismissing each other shortcut.
Yeh, people here can act like they just came from hell.. and maybe they are headed toward same.. We can pray for them.

I think the ding-meister doesnt like me because I disapprove of the fake pope francis and say things like: the last 6 "popes" were not real popes and that kind of thing. And maybe he's too cowardly to SAY that's the reason but whatever the reason, he is full of malice toward others. So yeh.. I'm thinking that isn't too Christian.. could be wrong. But didn't Jesus say to love and forgive? And Jesus also said that FEW find this narrow way of charity (and etc).

Yep. Jesus said we must love one another as He loves us and if we don't forgive, we won't be forgiven.

Let's all stay yoked to Jesus.

yeh, I don't know what religion you are, but I am (more/less) "Catholic." It's sad I have to put it that way but that is the fault of "the church" in 2024. As I've said here b4, anti-Christs took over the Vatican (and some satellite churches) beginning in 1958 and everything thing has been hell-like since. It's such a HUGE shame because the TRUE Catholic Church is the most beautiful thing on Earth... because it was founded by Christ. Some Catholic Churches are still fairly Catholic but others..

Anyway, if you're not Catholic, you probably don't really get this or accept it..

I am Catholic. I am appalled at some of the things that have happened and are happening. Thankfully there are still some good men in the Church such as Cardinal Burke and Carlo Maria Vigano...

I'm thankful there is another Catholic here. I think there are only about 5 counting you and me

There are a lot of former Catholics. Those are the worst, I sometimes think.. I mean, how can one reject the True Church Christ founded? But I guess they don't think it is that .. or worse, don't care?

Anyway, I am new to your posts but it looks like you've been here awhile. I hope u don't get too discouraged by all the SNARK

Wow. Just wow. You couldn't be anymore un-Christ-like.
Jesus said to be no part of this world= hanging out with those who practice vile things. But one can share the good news of Gods kingdom with the such and hope they can repent and turn around. Loaning a rake or something is just kindness.

Yes, that is correct. That's not what the OP is doing.

Yes, I've been a member here a while. I don't visit the Religion forum very often. If the current climate is Catholics ragging on other Catholics and/or former Catholics, I will stay away.

I don't blame you. Ding is a very hateful person, can never seem to say anything nice to anyone. It is really creepy when "catholics" act like that. You expect non Christians to act like that, but catholics? Obviously, it makes the CC look bad and of course it already looks bad to a lot of people who don't get Catholicism
can't help think this:

It's no wonder Jesus said that FEW make it to Heaven --Mt 7:13

There is enough Catholic hate from outside the religion, and we don't need Catholics hating Catholics. I'm tired of dealing with it.

I've met ding. Frankly, I don't think he's hateful. He can be bit snippy though. LOL

Meanwhile it never hurts to check in with Peter.

All of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love of your brethren, a tender heart and a humble mind. Don't be hateful and insult people just because they are hateful and insult you. Instead, treat everyone with kindness. You are God's chosen ones, and he will bless you. For
"Do you really love life?
Do you want to be happy?
Then stop saying cruel things
and quit telling lies.
Give up your evil ways
and do right,
as you find and follow
the road to peace.
The Lord watches over
everyone who obeys him,
and he listens
to their prayers.
But he opposes everyone
who does evil.”
Can anyone really harm you for being eager to do good deeds? Even if you have to suffer for doing good things, God will bless you. So stop being afraid and don't worry about what people might do. Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life.

Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope. Give a kind and respectful answer and keep your conscience clear. This way you will make people ashamed for saying bad things about your good conduct as a follower of Christ. You are better off to obey God and suffer for doing right than to suffer for doing wrong.

well, that sounds like a very loose translation of Peter. I like the Douay Rheims Bible because it is more reliable, basically a non-interpretive version of the original texts.

But I do agree we should love one another. I don't know what you mean by meeting Ding? In person?

Well, anyway, he is hateful toward me. I finally had to put him on Ignore. "If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you"

Indeed. There is plenty of hate going around. We must answer it with love. As John said, Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

I hope you don't think i am hateful for putting ding on Ignore? I got tired of this also. It makes ZERO sense.

Loose translation? Pretty sure I got the message correct. If you are that very fussy about translations, you may want to read the original Greek.

I've met ding online.

well, again, if your foot causes you to stumble (sin).. get rid of it

So it may look hateful to put ding on Ignore but I waited a long time b4 doing that and it just never stopped. Again, it makes ZERO sense for him to despise someone he doesn't even know.. another Catholic

no, Jesus did not speak Greek. The DR Bible is a translation (so called) from the original languages Jesus himself spoke, Aramaic and Hebrew. It is the most reliable Bible of all, the once the Council of Trent officially approved.

Pretty sure Peter's original letter was in Greek. That's what you criticized the translation. Look. You are fussy about which translation you use, fine. I'm not going to argue with you about it.
