Consider: Imagine that I steal a minivan so that I can take indigent elderly people to their doctor appointments. Admirable, right?

But I'm still a felon. The fact that I might be doing something nice with my stolen property does not change that.

Taking away the minivan and giving it back to its rightful owner is not "punishment." It is merely correcting the felonious act. Assessing a fine, sending me to prison, or putting me on probation for a number of years, those would be "punishment."

Now imagine I break U.S. laws by coming here illegally and starting a new life. Apprehending me and sending me back to my country of origin (or some other country that will take me peacefully) is not "punishment." It is undoing the crime.

EVERYONE who is in the U.S. illegally is subject to deportation, not because they are doing bad things here, but because they committed a crime, and that crime should be - first of all - rectified. The fact that sending them back inconveniences them, or "breaks up a family" or ignores the "good things" s/he was doing while here, those are all irrelevant. The first obligation of law enforcement is to rectify the law-breaking of the perpetrators.

When Our Beloved President promised to focus his efforts on the violent felons among the illegal aliens, that did not constitute a "pass" for those who merely came here in violation of the law.

But of course, Democrats know this. They simply don't want the laws ENFORCED because they want those illegals to be able to VOTE in the future, legally or otherwise, and every one who is deported takes away a likely Democrat vote, sooner or later.

You really have yet to show me how an undocumented immigrant who does his job and pays his taxes is causing you any harm at all. (In fact, you are probably indirectly benefiting from his labor).
