Short and sweet House bill aims to abolish ATF | Buckeye Firearms Association

Reps. Eric Burlison (R-Missouri) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) on Jan. 7 introduced H.R. 221, a bill that is simple and succinct: “The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is hereby abolished.”

“The ATF is emblematic of the deep-state bureaucracy that believes it can infringe on constitutional liberties without consequence,” Rep. Burlison said in a press release. “If this agency cannot uphold its duty to serve the people within the framework of the Constitution, it has no place in our government.”

Cosponsor Congresswoman Boebert agreed.

“I cannot imagine under any circumstance or administration where the ATF serves as an ally to the Second Amendment and law-abiding firearm owners across America. As co-chair of the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus, I’m eager to continue this effort with Rep. Burlison to defend our constitutional rights. The ATF should be abolished before they eventually abolish our Second Amendment,” Rep. Boebert said in the release.

Burlison was not immediately available for an interview.

The bill was cosponsored by seven Republican representatives, Andy Biggs (R-Arizona), Mike Collins (R-Georgia), Bob Onder (R-Missouri), Andy Ogles (R-Tennessee), Mary Miller (R-Illinois), Keith Self (R-Texas), and Paul Gosar (R-Arizona).

In addition to getting rid of the ATF, the press release says, Rep. Burlison is preparing legislation to repeal the 1934 National Firearms Act, or NFA, which, he said, “unjustly taxes, registers, and restricts American gun owners.”

Now before some of you start.....Just imagine if there was an entire federal agency devoted to combat and control the 1st Amendment.

It is not needed, virtually everything the firearms division does is unconstitutional, and most States have their own Alcohol and Tobacco enforcement agencies, no point is this redundancy except for continued harassment and revenue.

I told the story before but a guy that used to be an ATF agent retired and opened a small liuor store down the street from my shop and sold booze tobacco and guns,,

he told me he did it as a big **** you to the agency,,

Well….If Lauren Boebert wants it
She is usually pretty smart about this stuff

I meant to type 16. Sorry. 15 is a year too early.

Guns and booze are two different topics. Two things kids do that we will never get a handle on...drugs and booze. It's part of being an american

I've often wondered...Do any of those three things....... (Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) have anything whatsoever to do with each other?. How does the Tobacco figure in? It's obvious that this is an out dated, convoluted, over funded, purposefully over complicated, shining example of our bloated inept government bureaucracy. We NEED to start streamlining.

Perhaps it's time to legalize pot across the nation
It's coming soon anyway and there's lots of job opportunities it would create.

It's past time to lower the legal drinking age to 15 as well.

Why? I began drinking at 15. I was at dinner with my folks and the waitress took their order then turned to me and asked: "And what would you like to drink, Sir?"
So I matter-of-factly ordered a black russian. I used to love those things. I guess I looked older for my age.
True story.

Everyone should be able to buy any gun they want, without any government restrictions.

And you should be able to use it against men of the same age range as you are, no seniors or children are allowed to be blown away, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
