why do you disagree?....there is a reason pitchers won 30 games in the dead ball era...Disagree but good to think about
yep....Oh come on. Ruth was a beast for his time, but he was seeing 85 mph "fast balls" at best.
new type of ball....And he still swatted them out of the ballpark.
very few pitchers reached 90+ in those days...do you know baseball?....Smoky Joe Wood, Walter Johnson? You don't know baseball.
prove me wrong?....just in the 1930s there were many players hitting HR's like ruth was doing.....he wouldnt have looked so dominate...plus the pitching was better...Ah, yes; the old sour grapes of “if this and if that.” I deal in reality, not armchair speculation.
no one is criticizing ruth for playing well...the guy probably saved baseball...It’s laughable to criticize a player for playing well in his era. You play in the environment presented to you, not in the era presented by armchair forum goobers.
It isn't criticism to call it like it was. No one including me diminishes Ruth in his era. He clearly stood head and shoulders over his peers. But the facts are the facts. He threw slower and saw slower pitches than Ohtani. It’s laughable to criticize a player for playing well in his era. Quite possibly none of them threw over 90, including Ruth.very few pitchers reached 90+ in those days...do you know baseball?....
they claim walter johnsons fast ball reached 90 by analyzing him on film...Quite possibly none of them threw over 90, including Ruth.
I read that also, but he might have been the ONLY pitcher throwing 90 in the Ruth Era.they claim walter johnsons fast ball reached 90 by analyzing him on film...
Like high schoolers do, with 85 mph fastballsAnd he still swatted them out of the ballpark.
So true, training has changed into a science from then to now.if ruth played in another decade like the 30's or today he would not be so dominate....
he was already past his prime then,i thought i saw the year was 1915?..when they "clocked" him,he was 27 then.... .....I read that also, but he might have been the ONLY pitcher throwing 90 in the Ruth Era.
im sure the money they can make today helps....780 thousand a year minimum pay as long as your on the big team...So true, training has changed into a science from then to now.
He played 15 years, his prime hitting years in the 20s and 30s.It isn't criticism to call it like it was. No one including me diminishes Ruth in his era. He clearly stood head and shoulders over his peers. But the facts are the facts. He threw slower and saw slower pitches than Ohtani.
