So much for the olympic spirit, there is no need to even raise geopolitical issues. Sort of reminds me.of the Iranian wrestler who wouldn't shake the Israeli athletes hand after a wrestling match. There was no war in Gaza at the time. 'Shame on' Swiss commentator who made remarks about Israeli athlete, head of Israeli Olympic bobsleigh says.

The Swiss commentator who made remarks about Israeli-American bobsleigher AJ Edelman being “in favour of genocide in Gaza” while he was competing at the Olympics is a “bully,” says the president of the Israeli Olympic Bobsleigh Skeleton Federation.

Canadian-Israeli David Greaves told National Post on Tuesday that he was “extremely proud” of the Israeli athletes, “who have conducted themselves as mensches and true ambassadors of Israel, our sport and the Jewish people, something the Swiss broadcaster should take a few lessons from.” (A mensch is a Yiddish word that refers to a person of integrity and honour.)

Yes, sport should be about sport.

To be honest I don't even like people representing their country.

The Summer Olympics is bizarre as the medals table just represents how big a country is and what sports they bother to spend millions or billions on.

The sports China are getting medals for sometimes make sense, table tennis and badminton, but other sports like three golds for boxing, loads for diving (eight!!), five for shooting, five for weight lifting. The Chinese have literally identified the sports where money can bring you the most success. It's ridiculous.

If it were just about individuals then it might actually be more entertaining and fair.

Well that doesn't seem to apply to Russians or Belarusians does it?
