2. Having a home full of unlicensed guns.
3. Going out late at night alone in an isolated area prone to attack.

Doing these in New York is a death wish.

Having lived in New York City I can tell you that anyone 67 years old still naive enough to shoot an attacker dead in NYC with an unlicensed gun then self-report, probably shouldn't be living in NYC.

He should thank his stars that he will be out in under 4 years.

NYC cares far more about enforcing gun laws than catching actual criminals.

But he will be a felon now and will never be allowed to own a gun again.

NYC politicians certainly don't care for the people or catching real criminals.

But I don't think the police would have ever wanted to nail a senior citizen over this. If he would have kept quiet he'd be home free.
