This should scare the crap out of freedom loving Americans. Regardless of your opinions on the middle east, it is time to take a real look at what has happened to our country. Take a real look where the power is today. Think of our European brothers who have been jailed by similar laws limiting free expression and ask yourself truly how this bodes for Americans.

Text - S.10 - 114th Congress (2015-2016): Anti-Semitism Awareness Act of 2016

THOUGHTS:

1. Welcome to the results of 'liberal' crap like 'political Correctness' and 'Hate Crimes' being pushed in America.

2. Should Jews receive the 'same' legal protections as (other) minorities/

3. Should the Federal Government be given the power to 'police'/enforce issues regarding Freedom of Speech, as in this case?

4. This only leads me to believe that AS WE SPEAK Congress is drafting up legislation allowing them to control freedom of the press / free speech (the power to decide what is 'fake news' and what is not, the power to shut down media...) after all the 'Fake News' crap that just went on.
-- that means sites like 'The Onion' COULD very well be shut down...

Republican coon Tim Scott introduced this....no surprise one "oppressed minority" trying to give favored status to another "oppressed minority" they literally want to make it a CRIME to express views that Jews are HIGHLY over represented in American society ESPECIALLY hollywood, politics, education and media.

Bill aimed at censoring Palestine advocacy on campuses fails to pass U.S. House

In a victory for Palestine solidarity and free speech activists, the U.S. House of Representatives wrapped up its 2016 legislative session without passing the controversial and unconstitutional Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, despite intense lobbying by Israel advocacy groups. The failed bill threatened to impose on the U.S. Department of Education a definition of antisemitism that is so broad it would encompass virtually any criticism of Israel. The bill would be used to justify investigations against Palestine activists on campus, while adding no new legal protections for Jewish students.

Scott is not a coon, he may have been misguided in this attempt, but hes been a great senator.

Trying to stifle criticism of another country is NOT what I call a great job....he is an idiot for even wasting people's time with this crap. What's sad is since Jews are OVER represented on the SC it probably would have passed muster if it made it that far.

Nothing new here. Israel is just getting desperate.

Pressures on universities to discipline students & faculty for speech activities.

"Text - S.10 - 114th Congress (2015-2016): Anti-Semitism Awareness Act of 2016
This bill requires the Department of Education, when reviewing whether there has been a violation of title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance) based on an individual's actual or perceived shared Jewish ancestry or Jewish ethnic characteristics, to consider the definition of "anti-Semitism" as part of its assessment of whether the alleged practice was motivated by anti-Semitic intent.

For purposes of this bill, the definition of "anti-Semitism" is the definition set forth by the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism of the Department of State in the Fact Sheet issued on June 8, 2010, as adapted from the Working Definition of Anti-Semitism of the European Monitoring Center on Racism and Xenophobia (now known as the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights).

(Sec. 5) Nothing in this bill shall be construed to diminish or infringe upon any right protected under the First Amendment to the Constitution."

So your complaint would seem to be Jews should be fair game on college campuses but other minorities should be protected.
