Any of us old enough to remember Secretariat saw the most dominant Triple Crown Winner in history. He lived a very long life eventually dying at 19. The autopsy revealed a gargantuan heart weighing nearly 22 pounds! The average race horse's heart is about 8.5 pounds. No wonder he won by 31 lengths at the Belmont, heck he probably could have done another lap.

There are rumors, but that horse was just a physical freak. Prolly wouldn't have lived to 19 if they had juiced him up.
