Schumer silent on Biden oil purchase after blasting Trump for 'bailout for big oil'

Trump sought to purchase oil for the SPR in 2020 and was criticized

Updated July 30, 2024 5:39pm EDT

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., didn't criticize President Biden's Department of Energy for a massive oil purchase to help replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) despite slamming former President Trump in 2020 for attempting to include a similar purchase in a stimulus package.

The DOE announced a purchase of 4.65 million barrels of oil Monday to replenish the SPR, which has been tapped by the Biden administration, to assist with high gas prices.

The department bought the oil for an average price of $77.

The elite dems make a fool out of the poor dems force them to use electric everything... While they invest in oil. :nono:

Great move! Now Biden can release 4M barrels right before the election. Maybe VP Harris will have $1.00 gas on Election Day!

:clap2: :clap2:
There’s not much oil left in the strategic reserves to do that. The U.S. consumes over 20 million barrels of oil a day. 4million is not going to do anything nation wide.

Idiots.

During 2020 over 200 US oil producers declared bankruptcy...

Trump never had any control over oil production. I know he brags, but he's just being grandiose.

It’s not the function of government to save every failing business venture.

It's not hard to find hypocrites in the democrat party. The problem is that nobody in the mainstream media is outraged by their antics.

The United States remained a net crude oil importer in 2022, importing about 6.28 million b/d of crude oil and exporting about 3.58 million b/d.

We could and should be a net exporter. We could get the price down in a matter of days.

😂 Why do you think US oil production was flat and stagnant during the Bush administration?
