She is a conservative and apparently immigration was a big contributor to her win. Japan has historically been a closed nation, which isn't good.and may have hurt them. However, it appears as in Europe and when America had open borders during the Biden years, Japan is not getting the best and brightest and it has angered many voters. Like other democratic nations, Japan is going to be facing some difficult challenges. They can't blame immigration alone for their decline but the should choose the right talent. Sanae Takaichi set to become Japan's first female prime minister.
EPA Sanae Takaichi smiles widely. She holds up both hands in celebration, interlinked with those of two others, positioned out of shot. She wears a royal blue suit, pearl earrings and a pearl necklace.

Japan's ruling conservative party has elected Sanae Takaichi as its new leader, positioning the 64-year-old to be Japan's first female prime minister.

Takaichi is among the more conservative candidates leaning to the ruling party's right. A former government minister, TV host and avid heavy metal drummer, she is one of the best known figures in Japanese politics - and a controversial one at that.

She faces many challenges, including contending with a sluggish economy and households struggling with relentless inflation and stagnant wages.

She will also have to navigate a rocky US-Japan relationship and see through a tariff deal with the Trump administration agreed by the previous government.

If confirmed as prime minister, one of Takaichi's key challenges will be uniting the party after a turbulent few years which saw it rocked by scandals and internal conflicts.

Holeee Toledo.

She is from the Nippon Kaigi. Japan's ultra-nationalist party. About as far right as you can get in Japan. Perhaps we need to remain cautious. I like her if she can control herself like Shinzo Abe did.

Aye, so I've discerned. Apparently she admired Margaret Thatcher but that was just from a BBC media report I watched. From the U.S standpoint, I imagine they will focus on issues they can find common ground with such as ensuring they are a strong buyer of U.S military goods and keeping their word on investing in U.S manufacturing based on the deal Trumps team negotiated. There is always a chance if she is a hard nationalist that she might try to wiggle out of some of these obligations and the U.S and Trump must remain firm.

Wow...we are living thru some real history. The first B&H Japanese prime minister. A long with all this goofy DEM stuff in the USA, hamas attacking Israel killing well over a thousand, RF vrs Uk...over who knows what.

One good thing...global warming has gone away because I never hear about it anymore.

I wonder if anyone is going to answer Bill Maher question on why no uproar over the Nigerians being slaughter.

The "Real Time" host said Boko Haram, an Islamist group in the region, is "literally attempting to wipe out the Christian population of an entire country," asking, "Where are the kids protesting this?"

It will be interesting to see where this goes. Will she continue the policies that keep Japan locked in perpetual malaise or will she take bold economic steps instead?
The immigration problem, it is said, is what got her there. The immigrants that have come are not the best or the brightest. It is not surprising. Japan has long held views of cultural superiority and the best and brightest from outside Japan see little opportunity to flourish.

Yes, the climate change focus loses influence when people can't meet their basic needs. If Maher wants to get credit I wll concede if he continues to talk about the atrocities in Nigeria (and elsewhere). Otherwise, he is just using it as an analogy to speak out about the protests in the U.S against Israel when it should be bigger than that. Quite frankly the U.N and world.governments should be talking about it and human right violations in Saudi Arabia, China etc. This Goodwill for the U.S is worth trillions if you can maintain it so make sure you balance out trade with demands for free speech, freedom of faith,.civil liberties et al.

Dude...lets face it...the world is all F-up.

I hope Jesus keeps' his promise and return to the Earth and straints it out.

A Bob Dylan Quote:

Señor, señor
You know their hearts is as hard as leather
Well, give me a minute, let me get it together
Just gotta pick myself up off the floor
I'm ready when you are, señor

Señor, señor
Let's overturn these tables
Disconnect these cables
This place don't make sense to me no more
Can you tell me what we're waiting for, señor?

She is essentially a mentee of Abe.

She's set to become Japan's first female prime minister but there is nothing to celebrate. Since she is a controversial figure, the LDP leadership didn't want this to happen. Takaichi narrowly beat a former prime minister's son by less than 5 votes in the leadership election.

But she will get along well with President Trump. The Wall Street Journal reported that "Takaichi's conservative views on foreign policy and social issues are similar to those of Trump and building a relationship of trust between Takaichi and Trump could help strengthen the U.S.-Japan alliance."

Takaichi is among the more conservative candidates leaning to the ruling party's right. A former government minister, TV host and avid heavy metal drummer, she is one of the best known figures in Japanese politics - and a controversial one at that.

Takaichi is a staunch conservative who's long opposed legislation allowing women to keep their maiden names after marriage. She is also against same sex marriage. She's also a regular visitor of the controversial Yasukuni shrine where Japan's war criminals are memorialised.

I hope she’ll not be like the European female presidents, the worst warmongers and globalists.

As I said on the other thread, Japan actually needs immigrants for the same reason most First World Countries do.. because we aren't reproducing at replacement rates.

Japan is undergoing a demographic death spiral because they have so little immigration.

More Japanese died last year than were born.

More concerning about Takaichi, however, is that she shares some of the ultra-nationalist craziness that tries to rewrite Japan's role in WWII. (i.e. they weren't the bad guys.)

...

China has started rolling down the demographic hill, and there's no going back now.
