Rep. Paul Ryan won the nomination for House speaker Wednesday from his Republican colleagues, setting him on a glide path to clinch the top congressional job -- a post he initially said he didn't even want.

The Wisconsin congressman and 2012 GOP vice presidential nominee easily beat rival Rep. Daniel Webster, R-Fla., to become the Republican nominee. He will formally stand for a vote in the full House on Thursday, likely against the Democrats' choice, Nancy Pelosi.

Ryan, with the votes seemingly locked down, would mark a stark change in leadership style from the backslapping John Boehner, who plans to retire shortly after his successor is set in place.

He's what ... 46? If the gop wins the potus in 16, he'll be freed. Even if not, he can probably run for Wisc Governor or something to rehabilitate himself, if he has the drive. He's ten years at least from having his family raised.
