Roethlisberger suspended by NFL

Let's just wait and see what happens tomorrow, first.

It was for a top 10 according to ESPN.

I'd take him.
Interesting tidbit:

In 2005, when teh Chargers took Eli #1, The Giants were going to take Big Ben with the 5th pick, as they had him rated higher then Rivers.

The Chargers called NY and said they would trade Eli for Rivers and a #1 since Manning refused to sign with SD.

Big Ben ended up winning two SB for the Steelers, Eli won one for the Giants and the Chargers still haven't seen the big show.

who did #1 end up being?
Eli Manning, the Chargers drafted him and called NY after 2 more picks just before the giants were set to pick.

Many said NY gave up too much for Eli, giving up Rivers & a #1 and a #4, but the Giants have been a playoff team for 4 of Eli's 5 years as a starter and won a Superbowl, while teh Chargers have lost a number of big games.

. The NFL is a family entertainment industry after all, that's how they make their money. They have an interest in keeping their stars honest - or at least far more discreet about their asshattery.

I'm sorry, I understand that's the story they spin but really. They have the cheerleaders on camera in less clothes than ever every few minutes. There's rampant amounts of alcohol in the games being drunk. Never mind the fact that players are being paid millions to in many cases go and potentially cripple a player, not sure if I'd call that family entertainment.

I'm not complaining about the NFL in general, but if that's family entertainment then I'd hate to see what is considered adult entertainment outside of porn and strip clubs.

Tell that to all the people buying little Ben jerseys, posters, bedsheets, nerf balls, trading cards, all sorts of kiddie doodads and of course Steelers tickets for the kiddos. I know what you're saying, but the fact is appropriate or not the NFL makes big money off marketing itself and its merchandise for families. Cheerleaders and drunks aside, they do have an interest in the image. I wish they'd be more even-handed in applying penalties, but they have a right to protect their financial interest here by looking like the tough guys.

Oh I understand completely what they're doing and why they're doing it. I just find it funny whenever they call themselves family entertainment is all.

Ben was lucky to get only 6 games that can be reduced to 4.

The players were watching to see if a white player got the same punishment black players have gotten.

On one hand I find it funny, especially thinking about some games I've been to and how little of them I can remember.

On the other hand, I can assure you it could get much, much worse than a couple of kids watching football on tv. And having their favorite players. And maybe wanting something from their favorite team.

Indeed. I'm not saying it's worse than most things or anything. It's just like, alright NFL, you keep on doing what you're doing.

Hopefully though Ben will learn to stay out of trouble now.

Hopefully Ben will find a new city soon. I'm a Steelers fan of course, and a big part of the appeal for a lot of their fans is they don't put up with this kind of drama. I can sit down and watch a game on tv with my kiddos without having to explain what "felony conviction" or other similar phrases mean (unless they're playing Baltimore). Right or wrong, Ben's gotta go.
