"The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics has issued a position statement calling for a ban on the use of male practice players in women's intercollegiate athletics."

Basically, Division I female basketball players (scholarship athletes) will no longer be able to scrimmage against volunteer, non-scholarship male basketball players.

Can anyone present a valid argument supporting this position?

Seems patently ridiculous to me.
