Many of those who voted for Obama are doing him a great disservice by putting him on a pedestal that one of these days he will HAVE to come down from; or pushed from; or toppled from. Not even 100 days into Obama's presidency? Come on guys. We didn't want to cry racism before it was clear that is what it was, but now its getting rediculous.

The Media didn't care what Bush did in his first 100 days, did they? He had already set a record for vacation days at this time.

Seriously, the GOP and their attacks are starting to come off as pathetic. Is it possible that they have a hard time with a black running the country?

Because God forbid that a God-fearing “Merican should have to accept a black man as their president and commander-in-chief. Without even allowing time for any of his policies to work or fail and within the first 100 days of Obama’s presidency, the Governor of Texas is hinting at secession of his state for reasons that are unclear. I think we all know what “states’ rights” is code for here. The last time Southerners starting bleating about “oppression” and “states’ rights” was during the battle to desegregate.

See SB, this is why race relations are so strained. It's impossible for anyone white to criticize anyone of color without someone calling racism. It sets up a hostile environment, it erodes trust, it creates division. It's how the Left, with no real response, tried to shout down the Right. If you can vilify your opponent no one will listen to them and the tactic has worked very well for the Left for years.

It's sad to me that the people who claim to have the high ground on open-mindedness can't seem to be open to hearing anything except what they already agree with and feel the need to silence other voices.

Just pay attention to the outlandish claims coming from the right.

I bet you anything that people who say America is a christian nation, also believe that America is a WHITE nation too. Why not? Didn't white people come settle in America first? So then it must be a white nation, just like we are a christian nation because they founded the place.

People "can't" be racist because he's only 6% black? They can be racist if he's 1/2 percent. What is the cut off Burp? Is it 20%, 40? 60%? I'm curious what percentage he would have to be.

And the GOP are very clever in how they play their racism. First, they don't get anyone who's actually in politics to do the attacking. So they picked Newt Gingrich. He'll say anything. He's not running for office.

Then so they don't get called racist, they go on the offensive and accuse her of being a racist.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was on twitter Monday calling Judge Sotomayor a racist because of a much publicized statement she had made in regards to how a Latina woman from an impoverished background might be able to interpret the law differently than her predominately English white male counterparts. I must ask, “What’s wrong with that?” Even my husband was not offended by Judge Sotomayor’s statement. The reasoning behind it is clear enough; she would bring a fresh eye to the court and as a Latina woman she would poses a certain empathy towards people that may be absent in others from a more privileged background. Here is Newt’s tweet: “Imagine a judicial nominee said 'my experience as a white man makes me better than a Latina woman' new racism is no better than old racism.”

I found his generalization and taking of Judge Sotomayor words out of context not surprising, as I believe conservatives and the Republican Party to be desperate to regain their fleeting and tenuous hold on America’s psyche and that certain individuals in their ranks will say and do anything to accomplish this. Here is what Judge Sonia Sotomayor actually said in her 2002 speech at UC Berkeley: “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

But it isn't working. The GOP still looks very bad attacking her.

I know what your point is I just don't agree. Republicans always attack Democrats, and vice versa.

I think some introspection is in order, SB. You use the phrase "dirty south" and have another thread about southerners accents. I think you have a bias that could use some looking at. You're referring to a lot of Americans in a very negative way and it seems to be as mindlessly baseless as any bias I've ever heard of.

I don't really have a bias against southerners. I'm just mad at them because they are primarily red states. I just say those things because they say things that piss me off.

And no, Democrats don't always attack Republicans. Maybe during an election year we do, but the GOP seems to never stop campaigning.

Dude, could he give that shit a rest for a fucking second? What elitist media? Does he mean the corporate media that protected Bush for 8 years and now is all over Obama the same way they were all over Clinton?

Ron DeSantis Tells Florida Not To 'Monkey This Up' By Electing Andrew Gillum | HuffPost

Andrew Gillum became the Democratic nominee for Florida governor on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, his opponent, GOP candidate Ron DeSantis, made racist dog-whistle comments about him.

During an appearance on Fox News with Sandra Smith, DeSantis, who is white, doled out backhanded compliments to Gillum, who is black, calling him “an articulate spokesman.”

“The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state,” said DeSantis to Smith.

The left is much more obsessed over color than the right has ever been.

Remember, it was the right who introduced abolition. Not the left. Remember, it was the right who insisted that the color of a man's skin had nothing to do with anything. Not the left.

The left, however, embraces eugenics, segregation and affirmative action.

I think it's pretty obvious which group has a "bug up their butt" about color.

Sure you don't want skin to matter. When you look at the CEO and all the VP's of your company and they are all white men, you want to say their skin color or sex shouldn't make a difference. That's awfully white of you seeing as how being color blind help you whites out.

CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin is calling out President Donald Trump for what he said is a racist appeal to evangelical leaders.

In a private meeting with a group of evangelical Christian supporters on Monday night, Trump reportedly warned of violence if Democrats take control of the House of Representatives after November’s midterm elections.

In audio obtained by NBC News, Trump said that Democrats “will overturn everything that we’ve done, and they’ll do it quickly and violently, and violently. There’s violence. When you look at antifa and you look at some of these groups — these are violent people.”

He urged those in attendance to get their congregants to vote Republican.

“If they don’t vote, we’re going to have a miserable two years and we’re going to have, frankly, a very hard period of time because then it just gets to be one election — you’re one election away from losing everything you’ve got,” he said in audio heard by The New York Times.

Toobin said Trump’s warning of “violence” was code for fear of African-Americans.

“Let’s be clear also about what’s going on here. The theme here is, ‘I’m Donald Trump and I’ll protect you from the scary black people,’” Toobin said on CNN on Tuesday.

He said “antifa,” or the anti-fascist movement, is perceived as an African-American group.

“This is about black versus white. This is about Donald Trump’s appeal to racism, and it just happens all the time,” Toobin said. “And we never say it, and we don’t say it enough for what it is, but that’s what’s going on here.”
