Conway: Trump White House offered ‘alternative facts’ on crowd size

It was one of those "say what" moments when you can't believe your eyes and ears. Our prez has taken the concept to an extreme. Rather than offer alternate facts he has removed old ones.

After a reference to Trump’s impeachments is removed from a history museum, complex questions echo

NEW YORK (AP) — It would seem the most straightforward of notions: A thing takes place, and it goes into the history books or is added to museum exhibits. But whether something even gets remembered and how — particularly when it comes to the history of a country and its leader — is often the furthest thing from simple.

The latest example of that came Friday, when the Smithsonian Institution said it had removed a reference to the 2019 and 2021 impeachments of President Donald Trump from a panel in an exhibition about the American presidency. Trump has pressed institutions and agencies under federal oversight, often through the pressure of funding, to focus on the country’s achievements and progress and away from things he terms “divisive.”

I don't need to go to the Smithsonian to be reminded of what happened. A majority of Repub senators, fearing their fate in the next election cycle, acquitted trump of the charges despite overwhelming evidence of his guilt.

I suppose we can disagree about my interpretation of what happened. But I think we can agree it happened. Can't we? Or does the future hold a reality constructed by trump where the only things that happened are ones he wants people to be aware of? What will be expunged from history next? Stormy Daniels name? trump paying a $2M fine for stealing from a charity? His criminal conviction? Jack Smith's indictments?

All that and more is on the table.

I have this image of you sitting beneath a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling in a dank room surrounded by old picket signs about viet nam firing off angry letters to the government... :abgg2q.jpg:

I'd like to think I live in a country where the person who was told to remove the reference to trump's impeachments would have said to the person who gave the instruction......"go **** yourself."

But that is not this America any longer.

That was some good snark. I appreciate good snark.

It’s part of a larger effort around American stories

The Smithsonian’s move comes in the wake of Trump administration actions like removing the name of a gay rights activist from a Navy ship, pushing for Republican supporters in Congress to defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and getting rid of the leadership at the Kennedy Center.

“Based on what we have been seeing, this is part of a broader effort by the president to influence and shape how history is depicted at museums, national parks, and schools,” said Julian E. Zelizer, a professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University. “Not only is he pushing a specific narrative of the United States but, in this case, trying to influence how Americans learn about his own role in history.”

When it comes to the media the believe that false-propaganda is just alternate facts.

It's not considered the truth but "Their Truth".

For being an activist, not being gay, in fact the naming of the ship was the political portion that needed to be highlighted here, not its removal.
pushing for Republican supporters in Congress to defund the Corporastion for Public Broadcasting
only the taxpayer portion of it which means taxpayers and their reps make these calls as it is they who are forced to pay for that right, any taxpayer who feels his money is being used to defeat his views would be foolish not to put a stop to it...all private donations for those who like these views are free to keep it alive with their continued funding, assuming they care enough about it to do so.
just the next step in a culture war that saw American historical symbols razed and applauded by some/most/all of the folk who are now feeling the same ideological pain they caused...surprised museums and opera houses haven't felt the same cultural expressions as some cherished American symbols/statues have at the hands of the left.

There is this conclusion/ belief that the vast majority of Dimz have that they will hold onto, no matter how much evidence is presented, biological facts, etc.

I wish I could remember what that was.

Let me think. . .

For being an activist, not being gay, in fact the naming of the ship was the political portion that needed to be highlighted here, not its removal.
Actually, this was the rationale they gave...........The change was laid out in an internal memo that officials said defended the action as a move to align with President Donald Trump and Hegseth’s objectives to “re-establish the warrior culture.”

It goes without saying that's horseshit. You're saying being a former gay rights advocate is disqualifying to have a ship named after you? Dude.

Any comments about the reference to the impeachments being removed?

LOL.

This post was intended for a different thread but it kind of works here too.

:)

Fascism can't be defeated by any established laws.

That doesn't mean that it's not tearing the hearts out of the faithful.

It's disgraceful. Completely rewriting history....like all Nazis do.

I hope the country somehow survives Trump, although I have my doubts. And if we do survive, Trump and everyone of these MAGA Nazi ***** who destroyed this country belong in jail the rest of their lives.

15th post
Fascism can't be defeated by any established laws.
Hmmmmmmmm. That depends on the people in the country where fascism is taking hold. Some of the judges have shown themselves to be sympathetic to trump's efforts to establish an authoritarian government. Especially the conservatives on the SC. Obviously Congress, for as long as it is controlled by Repubs, will be complicit by its acquiescence.

Which is why it's up to us, the non-MAGAists, who are growing in numbers.

TRANSLATION: "This is what they actually said as opposed to my post and the article."
It goes without saying that's horseshit.
So it's "horsespit" vs. bullspit
You're saying being a former gay rights advocate is disqualifying to have a ship named after you? Dude.
no I'm giving the honest version of the motive, not the one that feeds the narrative, the decision, right or wrong, was made due to his activism, not his preference, it is the ideology that makes it disqualifying...semantics will not help you here, go ahead and try and I'll show you why.
Any comments about the reference to the impeachments being removed?
Not really, just to say judging by the ironic term 'standard' now in place for impeachment this looks solidly like the strongest case for impeachment to date...any comment on that from you?

We know what you are. From Democrats to Socialists to Communists. Democrat Socialist is now becoming part of the lexicon. Communism is in its infancy and will mature fast.

It is! But no laws are going to be of any help. That should be obvious, but it never has been and never will be accepted that the law can be applied to a fledgling fascist regime that has assumed power. It's too late for that!
