The logical question regarding Waco is why the same team that was so negligent in Ruby Ridge was still employed during Waco. A change of administrations perhaps. Apparently the search warrant alleged that a bunch of people who purchased (legal) brochures about restoring WW2 junk and may have actually purchased (legal) WW2 junk British weapons were in violation of federal law. It seems that the search warrant was bogus but the issue was never addressed during the craziness . So much for trusting the federal bureaucracy that becomes part of the media when a democrat is in office.
They had a chance to snatch him up as he went down the road, as reported in television media and news articles, as well as news magazines.
Instead of take down a leader, as he went to the store, or town.....they opted for the John Wayne & John Rambo raid. If I remember correctly, that was a decision ( to raid, versus snatch off of the road ) at the U.S. Attorney Generals office.
The end result, was fatal......and a "Black Eye" for Federal Law Enforcement. The disaster, published by dozens of television News Agencies.
Two agents, undercover inside the compound as reported by multiple news outlets, said that a assault was stupid. Even coupled with the history of Koresh and his psych profile....Law Enforcement still went in "Heavy" ; with countless of innocent civilians and children inside.
The assault was a disaster, with 70% of the blame on the U.S. Attorney Generals office and 30% on Law Enforcement. The AGs office was not there and had no right to say "Break down" the doors. L/E on scene ( ATF - Basic FBI ) was not trained, nor up to speed with breaking down doors on such a large compound with numerous "innocents" ( children & women ). FBI HRT should have handled the job, during the hours of early morning ( about 4 am ).....when body rhythms are at their lowest and the element of surprise is more likely. Opposing forces inside the building tired, weary, not fully awake or alert, confused by the element of surprise and limited by darkness.
But what do I know.
Good or bad - the human life is not something that should be taken lightly. Human life....good or bad ; is extremely valuable. Lethal force is an option at the right time - right place and under the right circumstances. Life is not something that should be gambled under the "Pomp and Circumstances" ; auspices of television cameras.
Some years ago, I did a report for English Class ( I was a nursing student ) on the number of death penalty cases; where the accused was innocent. Fabricated evidence, false testimony, perjury, jailhouse informants ling under oath. Prosecutors and Law Enforcement lying as well as fabricating evidence and manipulating the law. African-American people convicted by all white jury's in the South ( Alabama - Louisiana - Georgia ). People with low I.Q.'s and mentally challenged suspects coerced into confessions of guilt to solve the case, to quell public sentiment for the crime to be solved.
Hundreds of reasons why innocent people, almost everyday, are arrested and/or , sentenced to incarceration. Because our own justice system, the system that is supposed to protect them, failed them horribly. People walking around, with knowledge that a certain individual, or individuals got "railroaded" ; and they still eat a meal...or sleep without a hiccup or one ounce of guilt. Lives destroyed.....tuned upside down; and the true perpetrator enjoys freedom to keep on committing the crime another individual, or individuals is incarcerated for. Legal professionals whom know that the wrong person got the punishment.
Sickening.
The legal system decides punishment. The legal system deals with a person and their crimes. This is not the 17th or the 18th century where people can be barbaric and play Judge - Jury and executioner and decide whom is guilty and whom is not.
A person has the right to be judged by a jury of their peers, to know and review the evidence against them. They have a right to be treated humanely. The days of burning the witches at the stake, tar and feathering a accused person......are long gone. Early 20th century ; hanging a person on the American plains because they allegedly stole horses........is no longer practiced.
The Justice system exists for a reason.
