an event whose first-hand experience will vanish from living memory literally any day now

Only 12 survivors of Pearl Harbor still living. All of them over 100 years old. This was the first year not one of them could make the trip to Oahu for the remembrance ceremony

How many WWII survivors are left? Just curious.

Is this history of this day in infamy taught in our schools today?
There are a few of us that can still remember that day when it happened.
I was five at the time I can remember the tears and somber day. Evan at this early age I understood something grave was happening.
Listening to the radio hearing the shock of the announcers cries of the women in my family.
Seeing my dad in an Army uniform, watching my cousins going off to war one by one.
President Roosevelts speech to America.
Remembering the recycling drives, rationing, blackouts all that took place the days after.
No one speaks about those days nor are they even spoken in our schools today.
Rather, those who teach criticize each and every move of our actions against our enemies.

It's a shame, I checked the Fox News site this a.m. and there isn't a word about it in the news feed. SMH, but we see an article about Newsom's nuts. Thanks for bringing this solemn occasion to light.
Doc7505, Not Fake News. Check the time stamp on my post and the time stamp on the freshly posted article. Even Fox waited until 2:27 PM to post a story. I'll wait for your retraction.

my pop does, he's 100 and in VA ......~S~

my father didn't talk much, he would always get quiet when the subject came up. he saw stuff... had to do stuff ... & it haunted him i think.

Strange you write bout your time stamp , yet there is yet any remembrance of December 7th 1941 from ABC, CBS, NBC, MSN, CNN or any of the Quisling biased Media.
You also failed to acknowledge the fact that this day December 7th, 1941 has been made irrelevant by our educators teaching history to our children.
Why is that?

Thanks for agreeing with my point which was that the media chose, as usual, to disregard this date--but something as irrelevant as Newsom's crotch is news. This is an annual travesty that has been the norm for quite a few years now.

Indeed, many came home suffering "Combat Fatigue" now called "PTSD".
Several of my cousin reflected that through the years after the war. One cousin in particular was in the 1St Marine-Division and fought at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, and Peleliu.
During World War II, particularly in the Pacific Theater, American troops, including the 1st Marine Division, faced significant health challenges, with malaria causing more casualties than combat injuries in some instances.
