apparently they had 1200 stores, now they are down to 20

never been in one but they once had boston market frozen dinners which were not bad
big more expensive than banquet and similar
There was one here in Wichita, way back when.

IIRC it wasnt very good.

BM was big when my daughter was in JHS and HS and we went in there often with the busy lifestyle. I was sorry to see them go--they were a convenient option for homestyle comfort foods.

I loved Boston Market back in the day. Great chicken dinners. They weren't like other fast food places.
Hard to say why some places make it and others don't. Markets are very fickle.

true, I have a jack in the box local, food is decent but holy batman they want way more than other places
burger is like 12 bucks or something

and cracker barrel is still kicking........well almost not with that fiasco

applebees are still around, more than fast food and a good meal 20 years ago was 20 bucks but they did have a bar

They still sell the frozen dinners in the grocery stores here in Texas.

I don't know of any actual, physical locations still open though.

I ate there once a long time ago. I was severely under impressed.
I had to put a TON of salt on my chicken pot pie in order to have any kind of flavor/taste at all.

Never went back.

boston

Very sad, I loved eating at Boston Market.

This video explains what happened to them and why.

I used to eat at one. The chicken and sides usually were good. Then I had a chicken pot pie that made me sooooo sick, I didn't go back after that.

Ate once that I recall. Had Mac and cheese. Made me sick. I never went back. Never got the appeal.
hmm, getting a theme here of more people getting sick and finding their food bland and overpriced

hence why they closed almost all their stores, business 101 on display

we the people, the customer is how you live and die per your product, unlike a socialist society we have choice

power of the purse even though most dudes do not carry a purse now in 2026

Not quite.

The food wasn't overpriced.

It was actually quite good.

COVID absolutely killed them because it was more of a sit-down experience than a drive-through experience.

They also made changes to their menu that hurt their business model. (They got rid of the Beef Brisket.)

bad decisions by management but other's survived that are likewise so there has to be more to the story

good food, good price, you can survive something like covid, many other's did, some did not

thus their food was priced too high or it just was not that good and they did not have repeat customers

Well, yes, there were a bunch of problems, as the Video I posted detailed.

The big one- and this is an old story- is how Private Equity pretty much looted the company while not paying their vendors. Franchise managers were going out to grocery stores to keep in supply (which killed their profitability).
