This is a ludicrous overstatement.
Trump lost the popular vote. More Americans voted for Hillary Clinton.
American citizens on the west coast and Northeast didn't reject liberalism, which you've reduced to a strawman.
Trump, the billionaire globalist, won traditional blue states in the rust belt by promising to bring manufacturing jobs back and repair their crumbling infrastructure. This would involve the pre-Reagan protectionism and big government infrastructure spending favored by FDR. This is not an anti-Liberal message. In fact, Bernie Sanders supports these things, and it's a shame he was destroyed by the Clinton machine.
If there was a rejection in the crucial Rust Belt States, it was for the Liberal diversity platform that was launched in the 60s, and which crowded out the FDR/New Deal platform that centered around traditional working class issues. That is to say, this election was a regional rejection of New Left values, which caters to bra burners, atheists, anti-war radicals and "lifestyle " e.g., gay, transgender.
FYI: with a heavier admixture of race, Reagan used a similar strategy to flip the South for the first time in generations. He also used the "Culture War" and "values" rhetoric to peel white northern catholic workers from a Democratic Party that overplayed diversity politics.
Redfish, I know you feel very strongly about your views, and I know you think liberals are stupid, deluded and evil - but I'm begging you to make posts with more nuance.
