The hundreds of people who turned out for Abdul el-Sayed’s campaign rally with Hasan Piker gave a range of reasons for showing up, cheering anytime a speaker accused Israel of genocide.

The cheering itself is strong evidence that activists and attendees know, the "genocide" accusation is false as a serious claim and functions instead as joyful excitement propaganda.



If they truly believed Israel was carrying out a deliberate, systematic attempt to destroy the Arab-Palestinian people as such (the actual legal definition of genocide), the atmosphere at that rally would have been one of horror, mourning, urgent strategy sessions, or somber outrage — not repeated ecstatic cheers every time the word dropped, like a favorite slogan at a rock concert. You don’t pump your fists and whoop for an ongoing industrial slaughter of innocents. You don’t treat it as campaign rally catnip.



This pattern reveals the accusation as performative: a high-energy tribal signal that delivers dopamine, moral superiority, and in-group cohesion. It’s red meat designed to excite the base, not a sober description of reality that demands evidence, precision, or even basic consistency (e.g., ignoring Hamas’s explicit genocidal intent in its charter, the October 7 atrocities, or Israel’s repeated evacuation orders and hostage rescue efforts). Real genocides in history — the Holocaust, Rwanda, Armenia — produced documentation, survivor testimonies, and international horror, not campaign-trail applause breaks.



The people in that room with Arab-Islamic Abdul El-Sayed and Islamist-bigot Hasan Piker, the charge is therefore exposed as lightweight propaganda: emotionally satisfying rhetoric rather than a truth they’re willing to confront with gravity. Their reaction disproves their own sincerity. When a supposed genocide becomes a cheerline, it has ceased to be a credible accusation and become pure political theater.
