I have a great motherboard and graphics card for overclocking, but I never saw the need for it. If I get where I can't play a game, I know it's time to build a new PC. I'm all for tweaking to the nth degree, but after awhile, nothing beats that new system. I build my system so far ahead, that I'm still going strong with DDR-2 RAM.

The last time I built my latest PC, 2009 time frame, I experimented with all those little graphics card utilities, carefully monitoring the temperature of the GPU. With all my tweaking, I discovered that my problems with the system cutting off when I played the heavy graphics games, wasn't a heat related issue, but instead, it was the power supply, which couldn't handle the load. I replaced my supposedly 700 watt power supply with a real 850 watt power supply. No more problems. It seems that though the power supply was advertised as 700 watts, it was actually a 550 watt PS. The 700 watt was surge power.

I was trying to make my notebook fit for Battlefield 3. It has an i3 dual core with 2,4 Ghz and a Radeon 5650 with 1 GB. So I used radeonpro to improve the performance. I also use Battlefield 3 borderless which lets you configure the resolution completely free without limitations (1000 * 900 e.g). But I have FPS drops, which appear few minutes after I start playing. Its the GPU temerature, CPU load or power supply which causes this problem...
