He was a patriot and should be honored as such forever.

Some people claim it was a 12 year old boy who was killed 2 weeks earlier, but I think that incident was remote and not a result of "rebellion."

Memorial day is for all who served regardless of skin color.

Bringing up a specific skin color without acknowledging every skin color is pandering to a hot topic and a trend. Sure we've had black people serve, but none of them deserve any special recognition when the entire holiday is built around ALL who served. To only give special attention to a specific skin color is an insult to the other ones and diminishes the entire point of the holiday down to just being propaganda.

If you can't honor them all equally then you're doing it for the wrong reasons.
