Red State! Amen.
Trump is seeking to get rid of the U.S. penny.

It purportedly costs us 3 cents to make each 1 cent coin.

So: question time for our more left posting members:

Is there anything wrong with Trump’s decision to get rid of the U.S. mint’s productions of pennies? Or, is this one thing which Trump has proposed which you folks might actually approve of?

Well, I am certainly no liberal progressive, but I would say no. They are not going to agree to anything that Trump does, proposes, says, implements, or signs.

They are pure obstructionists.

Hell, I don't even believe that the liberal progs in here are real. There is no way they are that far removed from what polling says democrats are saying in the RW.....These people in here are just trolling. There is zero substance to any of them.

I have no issue with ending production as long as it's done in a correct legal manner.

Pretty much will have to be.

Although, if there is any basis to oppose the move, it’s a sure thing the matter will end up in a court decision, because of mindless TDS and the need to obstruct Trump.

There is plenty out in public. For some reason that supply is depleted then they can produce more
Except for hoarding or collecting some pennies for numismatic reasons, there’s a good chance that the supply will gradually diminish. The government can arrange for a program to take back the old coins and melt them down.

Its fine. I don't think I have used a physical penny in a decade.

They will become more rare. I will have to buy lots of pennies because they are very useful to me. Every time I visit my husband's grave, in a VA Cemetery, I leave a penny on his headstone, per the tradition of leaving coins on the stones of the military dead.

While I'm there, I often go from grave to grave and leave a penny on the stone of a stranger, say their name out loud and thank them for their service. On the stones of those who are Christian, I say a Hail Mary for the same reason that Catholics say the prayer for the dead.

When the person's family visit and see the penny, they know that someone has been there and paid respects to their loved one.

When you see coins on the headstones of Veterans, you know how they were loved and respected, and when I see several quarters on someone's stone, I thank God that they were not alone when they were killed.

People were asked their opinion.
That’s true.

And I actually appreciate your answer not just because I don’t think the move deserves any opposition. But because it shows that some people can address a decision by Trump on its own merits rather than just on the basis of a knee jerk TDS reaction.

I wish (for the good of our republic) that considerations about the propriety of what Trump does on all issues (each one) could be assessed on its own merits (and not just a reaction formation).

I had never heard of that tradition. It’s a very nice one.

Thanks for sharing it.

I support quite a few things Trump says but I know he is incapable of doing things the correct way which means in 4 years few things will be changed.

I support cuts. I don't support the massive conflict of interest in who he sent out to find the cuts.
