Just want to confirm before I screw myself like i did 4 years ago. I am reserving a room for 5 nights at a total of $880 which was charged tonight on my credit card.

So I found out when I check in my credit card will be authorized the remaining of the room plus $100 for incidental charges. So does that mean there will be a temporary hold of the amount for the 4 remaining nights plus the $100?

I would expect half as a deposit on your cc and the other half charged after checkout. It really depends on the circumstances and where you purchased the room. Sometimes, they debit the whole amount upfront. 880 / 5 = 176. This seems light for a per-night fee. I've paid double that for a good room in a metropolitan area lately. But I would expect all the amenities for 300 per night, including continental breakfast, self-serve laundry, and concierge services. Bedside turn-down service is always extra, and per agreement (wink wink).

Anyway, as long as you accomplish your mission and have a good time, whatever ; - O

I believe the charges for the nights are made each day and yes, there is a authorization for the $100 but if there are no charges it will be released. At least that's the way it has been explained to me.

Yes the 880 was charged tonight. I was just wondering would I have to make sure I have that available or more when I check in

I remember doing a digital check in 4 years ago and got the surprise of my life lol I would never ever do a digital check in again

The reservation for 5 days was made tonight at total of $880. So I was wondering would the temporary hold be $20 to $200

It wouldn't hurt. Plus, I'd bring $250 in cash just in case. That's maximum tipping, mind you, after looking with the lights ON. If it looks like a tired-out old thing you wouldn't want your grand-kid touching, half that.

Hotel (dot) com allowed me to make some good bookings to places I didn't know. But...I still think it's better to call the hotel you really want and book directly.

The $100 authorization and hold won't be done until you check in and it will only be there until you check out.

I think so. Or the possibility of damages.
