Mechanical rabbits to attract pythons.:auiqs.jpg:

Why not affix tracking devices to or in real rabbits. When the tracker stops moving it means it's inside of a snake. Track and kill the snake. Not rocket science.

Expensive ... the money might be better spent on a bounty ... Northern Pikeminnow Sport Reward Program ...

"The Pikeminnow Sport Reward Fishery Program, funded by the Bonneville Power Administration and administered by the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission, pays anglers for each northern pikeminnow that they catch in the Columbia River."

The bounty on a single snake can buy hundreds of small tracking devices. Lab animals are raised in the millions at little cost per animal. Rats and rabbits native to Florida can be raised the same way at little cost. All the technology exists and can be implemented at little cost, and to great effect. Why it hasn't been done already is an enduring mystery as well as testimony to the ignorance, greed, or mendacity of those in charge of the python control efforts.

Frequently Asked Questions

"Can I track multiple devices (rats, rabbits) with one account?

Yes. You can track multiple devices (even from different platforms) with your account. When you set up the FollowMee GPS tracker app in these devices, use your existing account user name and password. When you view the map page, you will see your all your devices (snakes with rats or rabbits in their belly) on the same map. You can select one device and view its location history."

Your team can then go out and dispatch those sleepy, overfed snakes.

Who you going to pay to go out in crocodile infested waters to collect the radio-tagged snakes? ...

Currently: "Python removal agents receive $13.00 per hour, $18.00 per hour, or $30.00 per hour depending on the area for up to ten (10) hours each day while actively searching for pythons on designated lands. For all eliminated pythons, the District will make an additional payment per python: $50.00 for pythons measuring up to four (4) feet, and an extra $25.00 for every foot measured above four (4) feet." -- "Python Elimination Program" -- South Florida Water Management District -- [for the 2024 season] ...

Sure ... let the agents themselves invest in transmitters ... up to $300 a day plus extra if we catch any snakes ... I don't know about Florida, but the best of the best fishermen on the Columbia are bringing in $100,000 a year ... but then, we actually want to be rid of squawfish ... if Florida wants rid of snakes, they pay the money ... up to $6,000 a month right now ... Florida can hire more agents ...

Paying for collecting snakes would be suspended under my program. Employees of the state would just locate and kill the snakes, no more bounty or rewards. I have also updated my method by using small explosive devices attached to or implanted in the prey animals which would detonate when no movement is detected for a period of time. Thus, no collection would be needed. The only labor needed would be to seed the snake infested regions with these animals.

We can enlist the help of the Israelis to design these small explosive devices. ;)

You're going to send a filing clerk out into the swamps to kill the snakes? ...

Or better ... make land mines out of rabbits ... how many children do you want to kill? ...

Typical middle class doesn't know what "worker's compensation insurance" is ...

Fish and Game Dept. field workers.

If your kids play in the swamps, they're more likely to be eaten by alligators or pythons than harmed by firecrackers.

It would be fun on a still night to listen to my devices blowing up those rascally snakes.

Also, the prey animals can have poisons lethal to snakes attached or implanted as well. This would keep the chilluns from harm, unless they catch and eat the prey themselves.
